When I want to make a quick but clean (and flat) illustrations, this would be my approach: For this one, The Initial sketching/Drawing/Inking was done on iPad with Procreate app. after transferring to Photoshop I used Liquify to adjust the lines and get a better proportions and form. then I made few solid 50% grey layers and used ‘layer mask’: to separate different part of the body that I want to paint later with different colours. I used Adjustment Layer to change the colour of the solid layer, this way I could  change any of the colours quicker. I sometimes add another adjustment layer on top or make a snapshot of the image and try different colour/contrast-brightness adjustment on the whole picture.
